Изображения: черно-белые фото, рисункиThe Thompson rifle is designed so that the bolt remains open after the last shot has been fired, provided the rifle is fitted with a stick magazine (the bolt closes after the last round when equipped with the drum magazine). When the magazine is empty, a protrusion on the rear of the stick magazine follower actuates the bolt lock which is designed to retain the bolt in its rearward position.
