Once again the author of the award¬ winning Snow Man delivers a thriller
that is authentic in every gritty detail, from the internecine
rivalries in London's Metro¬ politan Police to the scandalous
deal-making and deadly danger.
Just as the case against the notorious Pol¬ lard twins, London's most
vicious and elusive criminals, is coming to trial, the prosecution's
star witness is charged with a double murder. Evidently, while under
police protection, John Francis Duffy had blown the heads off a wealthy
sugar daddy and his teenage girl¬ friend in a secluded cabin in
Cornwall. Not exactly the way for a star witness to win the minds and
hearts of a jury.
It looks like an open-and-shut case against Duffy. His fingerprints are
on the murder weapon, and Ginny French, the murdered teenager, was his
girl. It's up to Detective- Inspector Tony Rowley to prove Duffy's inno¬
cence. Unless he can pin the double murder on somebody else and get the
London brass off his back, Rowley will be back walking the beat in
Piccadilly Circus.
